Matthias Schinnerl was born in Austria in 1987. After completing his apprenticeship as an electrical engineer, Matthias discovered a passion for photography. He was so fascinated by the medium that in his early twenties he attended the course for artistic and applied photography at the Prague Photo School Austria. At the end of the course, the photographer developed his style. The classic frontal view, no influencing stylistic elements, direct and forceful. His free works can be classified as conceptual photography. In 2020, Matthias Schinnerl was awarded with the NewTalent Award 20/1 for the work SMARTPHONE Man.
Matthias works analog and digital. The analog photographs are taken with a 6x7 medium format camera and the digital photographs with a 35mm full frame camera. The photographs taken on film are scanned and then digitally processed.
